We don't add DJ's to the Pocket crew that often.  In 2011 the only additions were Justin & Grant from duckbutter, and 2011 only saw one addition in the beautiful and incredibly talented DJ Red Sonya.  But sometimes, when all the stars seem to align and the moment is right, we just can't pass up the opportunity to pounce.  And pounce we did on the one and only Joplin!

Yes yes y'all, and you don't stop . . . gettin' down to the sounds of the Jopy-Jop!  Joplin's been a friend of us Pocket heads for many years; she's played for us at LIB 3 times since it "went big" in 2006, she rocked it at Woogie Nights back in November and has proven time and time again that she ain't yo' mamaz DJ.  Inside that sweet little white girl with a smile that melts, lives a large African American woman who stands front row center in her church choir, belting out funky gospel blues with the graceful ease of a burner cooking bacon.  Odd analogy, I know.

The point is that Joplin isn't just another DJ, she's the real deal.  With roots stemming from Jazz to Blue Grass to Classical and Electronica, this girl knows music and her mixing is tighter than a frog's crotch on a doorknob . . . so to speak.  Her smile lights up a room and her sense of humor is just warped enough to make her family.
