duckbutter is a collaboration between Lake Tahoe DJs Justin Levi and Grant Kaye. Justin is from an organic farm in upstate New York where he was raised on a diet of rhubarb, stinky cheeses, and bleepy dark minimal funk-house. Grant grew up swimming in the warm oceans of Hawai`i where he swam with dolphins and octopi listening to his Dad's records and yearning for snow and 4/4 beats from future discos in outer space that sound like the offspring of a robot James Brown and Maceo Parker. When duckbutter comes out of the speakers, you can expect to be covered in gooey ass-shaking sounds with with one foot in the funk of the past and two feet in the future - a place where chords grow on trees and everyone flies to work on their laser sleds.

Their sounds are funky, fat, weird, and delivered with a healthy dose of shenanigans. When they aren't mixing up slippery beats, they can be found in dark rooms programming the internets in a cloud of solder fumes, tinkering with flammable art pieces, or clambering up mountainsides with skis and giant bags of camera gear.
